XSCAPE is an arcade and entertainment center affiliated with the Cineplex brand, offering visitors of all ages the opportunity to enjoy award-winning arcade games and exclusive lounge areas. However, on XSCAPE’s desktop and mobile website, the icons in the “How To Play” section were not aligned with the game instructions and did not fully convey the intended message to users.
My goal was to design an experience where users could understand the icons at a glance and navigate the site in a more intuitive and seamless way. Accordingly, I was tasked with redesigning the icons in the “How To Play” section. Throughout the design process, my priority was to ensure that the icons clearly communicated their meaning, were visually consistent, and provided a user-friendly experience.

Responsive Icons
The icon designs were created in Adobe XD in sizes of 16px, 20px, 24px, 32px, and 64px to ensure they would adapt to different devices and screen sizes. Priority was given to making sure the designed icons were aligned with the copy and remained clear and meaningful on every screen.

The designed icons were shared with the design and marketing teams. Each icon was optimized to be visually consistent and intuitive and was shared with the developer team; thus, the “How To Play” section gained a clearer and more user-focused experience.

Key Takeaways
In this project I worked on for Xscape, I learned that icon design aligned with the copy and consistent across all screens directly impacts the user experience. Through responsive sizing and collaboration with teams, I experienced the importance of producing more intuitive and user-centered solutions.
